    • Bring Your Child to Work Day 2013

We designed our own websites, we learned how to manage projects, and how websites are coded. To end the day, we used Brightspot CMS to publish our very own content to the Perfect Sense Website (You're reading it). We even uploaded a picture....

    • World Games: A Note From Andrew
    • Personally, it was a life changing experience to join Special Olympics as it changed my attitude toward those with intellectual disabilities in a good way. Even though I was exhausted by working 16 hours a day, just to see the happiness we all brought to the athletes and their families took my tiredness away!I would really like to thank Holly for helping me get involved with the right activities that enabled me to learn the real meaning of Special Olympics. I learned a lot this trip and...

    • World Games: Healthy Athletes and Seoul
    • We woke up to rain on Friday, and many of the outdoor events were canceled. Andrew, Karl, Cecily, and Jenny decided to leave for Seoul (3 hours away) in the morning. Andrew was a fabulous tour guide, taking us on the subway to Myeongdong where we walked around and enjoyed the city and the culture. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myeongdong) Holly stayed in Alpensia for the morning, and she and Caitlin stopped by to view the Young Athletes program and a demonstration of the Michael...

Karl and Cecily left early for some practice time on the slopes while Jenny, Caitlin, Andrew and Holly met with Andrew Ingram and Mike Teem of SOI to discuss plans. We rode the chairlift to the top of the mountain to see the starting line, and enjoyed the beautiful view from the top! With all of our plans in place, we headed over the Music Tent in the afternoon to attend the Global...

    • World Games: Update from Caitlin
    • The SOI team has welcomed me with me open arms and made me feel like one of their own.Since I arrived on the 23rd, I’ve been helping with guest management for the All-Star Fans (VIP). This has entailed coordinating transportation, schedules and accommodation for about 400 people. It’s been interesting for me to see all the preparation and work that is involved in planning and implementing the World Games. When we first arrived, the Alpensia area was quiet and there weren’t too many people...

    • World Games: Unity Sports Floorball Tournament
    • We headed to Gangneung in the morning for Floorball, the first Unified Sports Experience event. Floorball is similar to floor hockey and is apparently really popular! This year, Floorball is an exhibition sport and is being played for the first time during these Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang. Jenny, Karl, and Cecily were all divided into different teams and got to play amongst athletes and other All-Star Fans including NBA legend Sam Perkins.  But, the real...
