On the Record with Rose: David Habib

David has been working for Brightspot since April 2014.

Last week, Rose went on the record with David Habib, Group Director & Chief Delivery Officer. In this role, Habib has his hands on every project at Brightspot, formerly Perfect Sense, and thus provides a unique perspective on how Brightspot operates on a daily basis. During their conversation, Rose and Habib touched on this unique position, Brightspot's future, and the challenging, yet enjoyable, Univision project.

How long have you worked for Brightspot? What brought you here?
I have been at Brightspot for a little more than 2.5 years. I previously worked with David Gang, our CEO, at two other companies, so I was keeping an eye on what was happening at Brightspot. I reached out to David about 3 years ago and here I am.

Can you tell me about your role as Chief Delivery Officer for Brightspot?
I am responsible for ensuring that the services and technologies we provide to our clients are delivered on time and to the client's satisfaction.

How do you think Brightspot best benefits our clients?
I think Brightspot is a very flexible platform. Every client has different business challenges and works in different ways. Brightspot can adapt to their needs and help make these clients successful, rather than restricting their ability to work.

What traits or characteristics make someone successful in your position?
I keep a lot of balls in the air, so I have to be very flexible and very attentive to a lot of different people. My role is to understand each project's unique challenges and determine when I need to step in and help or simply stay out of the way.

What are you most excited about Brightspot's future?
Every year we have more and more interesting projects we are working on and more and more interesting features that Brightspot provides to our clients. I am mostly excited to see how this continues to play out as we get more opportunities to build more products for great partners.

In your position, you play a role in every project that comes through our doors. Is there one that stands out as your favorite? Why?
We did the Univision project a little over one year ago. It a was difficult but great project for us. I got to work with folks across the company to solve very difficult business challenges and create interesting solutions for Univision. I was able to work with a lot of people here and old friends that I knew from AOL, who were now at Univision. It might have been one of our hardest projects, but I think it was my favorite.

Besides the people, what is your favorite part about working for Brightspot?
I like the diversity of clients that we serve. I like the fact that I can focus on a corporate story telling opportunity, then change gears and deal with real time news, then change gears again and work with a major media company.

What are your favorite activities or hobbies to do out of the office?
I enjoy hiking, cycling, and kayaking. If I have free time, I want to spend it outdoors!

If you could have any super power, which would you like to have?
I would like to move things with my mind. I think it would be fun to push things with my brain!

What was the last movie you saw? Would you recommend it to others?
I saw a movie called Genius. It's about an American writer named Thomas Wolfe and his relationship with his editor. It was a good movie, I would recommend it to people.
