In July, Rose went on the record with Scott Loeb, who joined Perfect Sense at the start of the year as Director of Strategy. During the conversation, Rose asked Scott about his unique role at Perfect Sense and his thoughts on the future of Brightspot. Additionally, they talked about his passions for travel and running.
You've been at Perfect Sense for six months. What brought you here? How has your experience been so far?
My experience has been fantastic! The people are very welcoming and I have been impressed with how interested and devoted they are to the Brightspot platform. I came from a background in management consulting and corporate strategy, and really enjoyed how the work I was doing was impacting organizations on a global scale. I came to Perfect Sense because of the opportunity to play a role in helping Perfect Sense reach a higher level and positively impact the company's future.
You oversee strategic accounts at Perfect Sense. Where do you think we have the most opportunity to expand our reach in the near future?
I think we have a couple of great opportunities. One is selling more and better products to existing clients. The second is adjusting pricing options to capture new market segments. Lastly, we could expand into new verticals and grow our client base. There's definitely lots of potential ground to cover!
How do you think Brightspot stands out among other platforms?
Brightspot was originally built as an API-driven engine to connect pieces of technology. Other platforms in our space were built as a CMS first, which limits their future integration capabilities . I think, in 5-10 years, Brightspot has the flexibility to accommodate any changes to our client needs .
I read that you got your MBA in 2013. What inspired you to go back to school?
One of the things I truly enjoy in life is learning and being challenged. I started taking classes part-time at night, and loved the collaborative nature of them. People say school is not fun, but I've always really enjoyed it!
How has your consulting background helped during your time at Perfect Sense?
I think it brings a few things to the table. One is being able to look at things from others perspectives and have empathy for the challenges they are facing. Another is being able to manage situations that are very ambiguous. My background brings the ability to understand and figure out quickly the best ways to help our customers, especially during the selling process.
Besides the people, what's your favorite part working at Perfect Sense?
I really enjoy a great cup of coffee and Anne makes the best! It starts every day perfectly!
I heard that you have traveled all over the world. Where do you want to go next? Why?
I just came back from Vermont. It was a great trip but a short one. Next, I'd really like to go to Iceland. I have heard its beautiful and there's a lot to see.
What are your favorite activities or hobbies to do outside of the office?
I enjoy running and am currently training for the Marine Corps Marathon this October. I also love spending time with my family. We have a 2-year-old who leads all the activities. We go on bike rides, go to Nationals games, and, recently took him to his first concert.
Where would you go in a time machine?
I think I'd like to go back to when I was in middle school just look to at my experience from the outside and see how it shaped and defined who I am today.
What was the last movie you saw? Would you recommend it?
The last movie I saw was The Black Panther . It was great and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys action movies.
